Meika Decher is an international event rider and co-owner of Polestar Farm in Lake Stevens, Washington. A lifelong equestrian with a passion for developing both horse and rider, Meika has built her career around producing competitive, confident, and happy athletes at every level of the sport.

Polestar Farm is a premier combined training facility operated by Meika and her husband, Mark Salser. The program supports riders from Beginner Novice through Advanced levels in dressage, show jumping, and eventing. With a 60-acre cross-country field set on rolling terrain, along with trails, a show jump arena, and an indoor arena, the farm offers year-round opportunities for growth and performance.

Meika has competed at the Advanced level since 1999, producing and riding standout horses including Blueprint, Goldfinch, and Good Deal Lucille. She was selected to ride with the USET Developing Rider Team for two years aboard Blueprint.

Throughout her career, she has completed:

• 6 CCI*** long formats

• 4 CCI**** long formats

• ½ of Rolex CCI**** long format

She continues to aim high with her current string—Archie McPhee, Verily, and Oiselle NW.

Her dressage training has been influenced by Linda Zang and Jen Verharen. Her show jumping foundation has been shaped by Amy Tryon, Bobby Costello, Scott Keach, and Dom Schramm.

Since 2014, Meika has served as a USEA event organizer, helping oversee biannual competitions from Beginner Novice through Intermediate levels. She is also an active member of the USEA Area VII Council, giving back to the sport that shaped her career.

Meika met her husband, Mark Salser, while in graduate school at UC Davis, where they connected over a shared passion for ecology and science.

Mark holds a PhD in Entomology and serves as an active board member of the Washington State Beekeepers Association. A skilled woodworker, he builds many of the cross-country jumps seen at Polestar Farm and the Washington State Horse Park. Mark also competes his horse, Wally, at the Novice level and enjoys regular lessons, clinics, and trail riding.
